16 Tips to Help you Get out of a Rut

I am in a rut.

These five words have replayed in my mind longer than I want to admit.

Although this is not my first time around this mountain, writing these words and reading them aloud forces me to do some introspection to determine what is required at this time to get unstuck.

As a therapist, some people really believe I am immune from experiencing tough times in my life since I make it a priority to always show up for my clients. But this is far from the truth and more of a reason to be transparent about my struggle.

Yet despite being in a rut, I have achieved some of my goals. Nevertheless, it has not been without a struggle since being stuck has sapped my energy making it difficult to get or stay motivated for any length of time.

How did I end up in a rut?

I attribute it to dealing with loss, health challenges, compassion fatigue, life stressors, not setting healthy boundaries, and making self-care a priority as well as having bad sleeping habits.
